Max Snijders (1929) #15407 on the family tree met Their Majesties the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace on 27th January 2026.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla lit candles of remembrance to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945.
Max, one of a decreasing number of Holocaust survivors, hid in several locations as a child to avoid the Nazi persecution. 1.6 million children were not so fortunate.
The King, who last year became the first British head of state to visit Auschwitz, told 100-year-old survivor Anita Lasker-Wallfisch that it was “wonderful” to have her join the reception.
On display was a painting featuring excerpts from Anne Frank’s diary by Peter Sacks, which is to be auctioned in aid of the Anne Frank Trust.
