Charlotte’s Flora and Fauna

Charlotte’s heraldic plates, which we looked at last month, were by no means her only artwork.  She exhibited paintings with Suffolk Artists which had been founded in 1832 by Henry Davy (1793-1865) and counted amongst its members, John Chevallier Cobbold (1797-1882) #114 and Richard Cobbold (1797-1877) #106.

Charlotte Bampton née Cobbold (1817-1914) #141 also left us exquisite decoration on mainly Limoges porcelain of which we show a selection here, all executed, as far as we can tell, between 1876 and 1884.  Porcelain manufacture started in Limoges around 1771.

Pictures are courtesy of a generous family member, thank you.

Anthony Cobbold
